We
previously reported, along with many other sites, that an OTA rollout of Android 2.2 was going to happen for Sprint's Samsung Epic 4G tomorrow. Based on a legitimate looking screenshot of what appeared to be a Sprint computer. Now
TheDroidGuy is reporting via a tipster that it was a false alarm and it's not happening tomorrow. But with no definitive ETA on the update.
Samsung Epic Software Update (Froyo 2.2 Version) Not Available Yet
Despite what many websites are saying, Android software version Froyo 2.2 is still on hold. If customers ask about this update, explain the following:
- The current Samsung Epic software version is DI18.
- There is no firm delivery date for the Froyo 2.2 software update, but it will be available in the near future
As with many of these rumors of firmware updates, It's usually best to hear it from
an official source first, or just see it happen firsthand. Or there's always that
manual update that's been floating around.
